Week Three of Summer Camp!

Week 3: Arts and Crafts from Around the World and Math Camp!

Our CountrySide Campers  criss-crossed the globe and touched on the cultures of several countries located in Asia, Africa, and Europe. The children were very fascinated by the pharaohs, pyramids and sculptures of  Ancient Egypt!  They created beautiful art work using colored sand to make  landscapes with pyramids. Our budding artists also designed their own cartouche (sort of a name tag) with hieroglyphs. When learning about Asia’s cultures, our students were introduced to Origami, the traditional Japanese art of paper folding. They loved learning how to fold paper flowers and animals!  Next, we admired beautiful Greek floor mosaics, which inspired our young artists to make their own designs out of colored tiles. We also prepared a wonderful salad from the vegetables harvested from our own garden! What a delight that was!  Friday, after our marble painting art project, our campers enjoyed making delicious fruit smoothies! To top off the cultural experiences,  Ms. Navarro spoke Spanish with the children on a daily basis, and introduced many new words to them! All of us had a wonderful time!
